Support
Services for Students |
|
|
The
experience of Fulham & Chelsea College extends beyond the
study environment to an understanding of cultural needs and
a familiarity with London
life, which means we are able to provide a number of additional
services to our students. These services show the
commitment of the College to the welfare of all its students. |
|
Student
Information Packs |
|
We
try to guide all students through the enrolment and arrival
process. We issue
every student with a ‘Prospective Student Information Pack’ once
they have completed the pre-enrolment to assist in better understanding
what is offered at the College. A ‘Pre-Arrival Information
for International Students Pack’ which includes information
necessary prior to completing the visa application and attending
the interview if required at the British High Commission is also
issued. Upon arrival in London, students will be given a ‘Welcome
Pack’ with information to assist the settling in process. They
also attend an induction meeting at the start of their course. |

Visa

|
Our
close relationship with the UK’s longest established
multi destination visa service company Ambler
Collins gives our students
access to immediate assistance with all visa issues. |

Discount Cards - Travel & International Student Identity
card |
|
Full time students in the UK are entitled to discount transport
cards and an ‘International Student Identity Card’ – details of both
are provided to students when they start their course. |
|
Accommodation
Assistance |
|
For those students
without family or friends to stay with on arrival in London, or
those who wish to find a new place to live, the College can provide
assistance in directing you toward finding competitively priced accommodation. |
|
Meet & Greet |
|
We
recognise that arriving in London on your own can be a daunting
prospect and so for all new students we offer a ‘Meet & Greet’ airport
service (Heathrow airport only) whereby a College representative
will be waiting for you on arrival into London and can take
you to your accommodation. There is a charge made for this service.
Details on request. |
|
Bank
Account Reference |
|
We recommend that students obtain advice and a bank reference from
their bank prior to departure to the UK, as opening a bank account
in London can be a frustrating experience. We do provide a basic
administrative service to students which includes letters of
introduction to the UK High Street banks, to help students open a UK
bank account. |
|
Student
Committee |
|
The College recognises the importance of student involvement and
actively encourages and supports the activities of the Student
Committee in listening to student's views as well as arranging social events. |
|
Medical
Care |
|
Full time students
studying for a period greater than 6 months in the UK are entitled
to free medical care via the National Health Service provided they
are registered with a local doctor. If students are experiencing
difficulties, the College can provide assistance. |
|
Employment
Assistance |
|
Full time students in the UK can work part time - up to 20 hours per week during
term time and as much as they wish during agreed holiday periods.
The College can provide advice and regularly advertises
