January 24th - 'Train to Gain' program

Fulham and Chelsea College announced today that is an approved Learning Provider that can deliver Level 3 courses in the 'Train to Gain' program.

These courses can be tailored to meet the needs of the Employer and the majority of the course can be delivered on-site which prevents the need to travel away from your workplace.

Women in London

As part of 'Train to Gain' a large government subsidy has been made available in London to train women in work or returning to work to Level 3, whatever their current level of education. This women only, London pilot will substantially reduce training budgets for business, and in some circumstances 100% of the training bill can be paid to the employer.

Whilst Train to Gain is not new, the London Women's initiative is. It's available to all women who work for a London business to train to Level 3, whether they have no qualifications or a PhD. Also, you have already been a beneficiary of Train to Gain to Level 2, you are still eligible for this extra training.

Why Women, why London?

It is predicted that by 2016, 70% of jobs in London will be taken by women, but currently not enough women are trained with the skills some businesses need. Women in London are also less likely to return to work after a career break than elsewhere, but this is set to change Women in London are also:
  • under represented in many business sectors such as transport, construction, finance & engineering
  • under represented in management & supervisory roles
These circumstances are generally worse in London than nationally, so the Train to Gain Women's initiative is aiming to redress this predicted skills shortage before it impacts business in London and the wider national economy.

How do you get training?

Train to Gain women's pilot is an employer led initiative by the government, aimed at supporting business in London by helping with training budgets. As such to be eligible you need to be:
  • A woman
  • Approved by your employer as an individual suitable for training
  • Working for a London based company
  • About to return to work to a London based company
As Train to Gain is employer led, you can,t apply for training direct. It is solely your employer's decision about who to put forward for a training program, and any training is organised by your employer.

If you do want training to level 3 under this scheme, you will need to speak your employer about what training plans or personal development plans they have in place, and if they are not aware, let them know about the London Women only training pilot.

Employers

It's a fact. Businesses that invest in staff are more profitable.

If your staff don't have the right skills for the future then neither does your business. Recent Government reports have warned that businesses need to improve the skills of their workforce if we're to remain competitive as a nation.

Whilst Train to Gain is not new, the London Women's initiative is. It's available to all women to train to Level 3, whether they have no qualifications or a PhD. Also, if your female employees have already been a beneficiary of Train to Gain to Level 2, they are still eligible for this extra training.

How can this benefit your business?

A large government subsidy has been made available in London to substantially reduce business training budgets. In some circumstances 100% of the training bill can be paid for you. This will allow your business to train its female staff to a high level, dramatically reduce your costs and give staff the skills to increase your productivity. In short, better:
  • staff retention
  • productivity & skills utilisation
  • succession planning
  • staff morale
We arrange for a specialist skills broker to provide free impartial advice to you, so that they can match your skills needs to a training provider.

This training fits around your business, is flexible and can be geared to suit the needs of your business and employees with minimum disruption to your operations.
